Power Harvest Infrastructure Ltd. Appoints Paul Willgoss as Strategic Advisor to Drive Agricultural Innovation and Circular Economy in Data Centre Development

London, UK – 12/12/2024

Power Harvest Infrastructure (Phi) is excited to announce the appointment of Paul Willgoss as Strategic Advisor. With an extensive background spanning the retail, food manufacture and farming, Paul’s expertise will play a key role in helping Phi explore and integrate innovative agricultural applications within its Sustainable Technology Campuses (STCs), advancing circular economy principles.

Paul Willgoss brings a wealth of knowledge and an expansive network of connections across the food and farming industry, including business, government and NGOs. His strategic guidance will help Phi evaluate and implement diverse agricultural solutions, such as utilizing waste heat from data centres for commercial greenhouses, as well as exploring broader farming applications to identify the best use cases for supporting sustainable, resilient agriculture and enhancing the UK’s food security.

Expanding the Scope of Agricultural Innovation

Power Harvest Infrastructure’s STCs are designed as hubs of sustainability, integrating data centres, renewable energy, and agricultural industries. With Paul’s leadership, Phi will assess and implement various agricultural opportunities, including:

  • Commercial Greenhouses: Harnessing waste heat to support year-round produce production.

  • Alternative Farming Applications: Exploring opportunities like vertical farming, aquaculture, or agroforestry to maximize resource efficiency.

  • Renewable Energy Integration: Leveraging renewable power and waste heat to drive innovative farming techniques and enhance productivity.

Paul Willgoss on His Appointment:

“I am thrilled to join Power Harvest Infrastructure Ltd. and contribute to this transformative initiative,” said Paul Willgoss. “By exploring and understanding the full range of agricultural applications for data centre resources, we have an opportunity to revolutionize food production, build resilient supply chains, and create significant environmental and economic benefits.”

Addressing the UK’s Food Security Challenges

With the UK importing approximately 40% of its food, enhancing domestic food production is critical. Phi’s approach combines cutting-edge technology with sustainable farming practices to create resilient systems. By evaluating various agricultural models, Phi aims to identify and implement the most impactful solutions, reducing reliance on imports and minimizing carbon footprints.

Global Examples of Success

Power Harvest’s strategy aligns with successful initiatives worldwide, including:

  • Amsterdam’s Greenhouses: Utilizing waste heat from data centres to sustain greenhouse operations.

  • Singapore’s Urban Agriculture: Integrating renewable energy with advanced farming methods to maximize food production in limited spaces.

  • Nordic Countries’ District Heating: Redirecting waste heat from industrial facilities to support local agricultural projects.

About Power Harvest Infrastructure Ltd.

Power Harvest Infrastructure Ltd. specializes in developing Sustainable Technology Campuses that integrate renewable energy, data centres, and supporting industries to create circular economies. Their innovative projects redefine the intersection of technology and sustainability.
